WHAT IS PROJECT 2025?
- Project 2025 is the 877-page GOP Master Plan for replacing our democracy with a white Supremacist Christian theocracy. Financed by the Heritage Foundation and written by a coalition of more than 75 extreme right-wing organizations, Project 2025 openly calls for dismantling our federal government and giving “supreme” powers to a Republican President – ideally, Donald Trump.
- Project 2025 is not theoretical. Billionaire-backed right-wing operatives are identifying and training 20,000 Trump loyalists now to take the reins of government. Where chaos defined Trump’s first term, the next GOP presidency will be a disciplined, coordinated implemented of a Christian Nationalist agenda.
WHY YOU SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT IT
- Project 2025 is a collection of conservative and right-wing policy proposals from the Heritage Foundation to reshape the United States federal government and consolidate executive power should the Republican nominee win the 2024 presidential election. It proposes reclassifying tens of thousands of federal civil service workers as political appointees in order to replace them with people more willing to enact the next Republican president’s proposals. It asserts that the president has absolute power over the executive branch. Project 2025’s critics have characterized it as an authoritarian, Christian nationalist plan to transform the U.S. into an autocracy. Many legal experts have said it would undermine the rule of law, the separation of powers, the separation of church and state, and civil liberties.
- In January 2020, a handful of conscientious public servants held the guardrails and saved our republic from Trump’s attempted coup.
- Project 2025 ensures there will be no guardrails to save us next time.
PROJECT 2025 MANDATE OBJECTIVES
– Withdraw from the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Climate Agreement
– Repeal the Inflation Reduction Act. President Biden’s landmark climate law
– Dismantle environmental regulations
– Eliminate the EPA
– Deny existence of climate change
– Gut clean energy programs and greenhouse gas regulations
– Deregulate big business and the oil industry
– Give absolute authority over all aspects of government to the President
– Give President control of the DOJ, CIA and FBI
– Defund the FBI and Homeland Security
– Replace 50,000 civil servants with Trump loyalists
– Order the prosecution of political opponents
– Give President control over the DOJ to use the DOJ to take legal action against local officials, including District Attorneys, who refuse to do what POTUS wants
– Pardon all Jan 6 insurrectionists
– Promote and expedite capital punishment
– Eliminates federal agencies like FDA, EPA, NOAA and more
– Continue to pack the Supreme Court, and lower courts with right-wing judges
– Cease support for international organizations that promote LGBTQ+ equality
– Remove all references to “abortion,” “reproductive health,” and “sexual and reproductive rights” from U.S. Agency for International Development materials
– Allow ICE to conduct raids at schools, churches, hospitals, playgrounds and other sensitive areas
– Mass deportation of immigrants
– Build Immigration Internment camps
– Revoke birthright citizenship
– Ban Muslims from the entering the country
– Increase Retirement age
– Eliminate Social Security for elderly and disabled
– Federally criminalize abortion (no exceptions, regardless of mother’s health)
– Eliminate abortion pill (mifepristone) access by withdrawing FDA approval or using the Comstock Act to stop distribution
– Eliminate contraceptives (birth control) access, (no exceptions for married couples). Either by a ban or using the Comstock Act to stop distribution
– Restrict and/or Ban on IVF (Louisiana has already passed legislation banning IVF)
– Eliminate no fault divorce
– Allow states to ban employers from providing health benefits that cover abortion care
– Condemn single mothers while promoting only “traditional families”
– Eliminate concurrent receipt of retirement pay & disability compensation for veterans
– Eliminate enrollment for VA medical care for veterans in priority groups 7 and 8
– Put a 10-year time limit on initial applications for disability compensation
– Narrow eligibility for veterans disability by excluding disabilities unrelated to military duties
– Reimplement Trump’s transgender military ban and expel transgender service members
– Allow Trump to deploy the Military against American Citizens
– Ban peaceful protests
– End civil rights & DEI protection in government
– Eliminate the DOE
– Taxpayer dollars to fund Christian private schools
– End and reverse student loan forgiveness program
– Eliminate Head Start and free school lunch programs
– Ban books and curriculum about slavery
– Ban African American and gender studies in all levels of education
– Eliminate separation of Church and State in public schools. Teach Christian religious beliefs in public schools (OK school’s head Ryan Walters recently ordered that all OK public school teachers must teach the Bible.)
– Repeal the Affordable Care Act
– Full privatization of Medicare
– Repeal Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program (raise prescription drug prices)
– Threaten Medicare coverage for hundreds of thousands of people
– Repeal LGBTQ+ anti-discrimination laws
– Ban gay couples from adopting
– Ban transgender healthcare
– Reimplement Trump’s transgender military ban and expel transgender service members
– Withdraw federal anti-discrimination protections for transgender students
– End marriage equality. Make Federal government establish marriage between a man and woman as the “ideal, natural family structure”
– Taxpayer dollars to fund Christian private school
– Tax cuts for large corporations and the ultra wealthy
– Tax increases for working class
– Destroy Unions, Collective bargaining and all worker protections
– Remove overtime protection laws
– Increase Retirement age
– Eliminate Job Corps
